What on earth is that big silver fish the kids are playing with?

Actually, these are flock of AI-controlled "fishes" that were swimming autonomously in the air as if they were live fishes.  Not only does it float, but the tail of the fish is actually powered and moves around.

The other day, there was a comprehensive event that explored the future of Shiga district from various perspectives using the new technology called "Data Art & Science (DAS)" at Hikone City, Shiga Prefecture, Japan.  The venue was the former branch building of Shiga Bank.

But this floating fish is not the major theme of this event. Aside from the flock of floating fishes, there were experience-based workshop and learning exhibition to understand Artificial Intelligence.

You can see the battery and the control devices.

These silver fish have a propulsive fan in their tail to help them move forward, and they move their fins to change direction to keep them in place.

This is a short movie posted on YouTube.

I visited the venue on April 5th.,2025.
