A strange creature seen in the forest

Before I go into the main subject, I'd like to continue the blog from where I left off last time, please. My damaged camera SD card was returned from the manufacturer's repair center today. It has been one week since I sent it.

The returned SD card was sealed in the manufacturer's new package, just like brand new cards sold at electronics stores. In fact, this is a brand new card installed with recovered files.

I inserted the SD card into my PC slot and confirmed that almost all the photo files were recovered.

Since it was within the warranty period, it costs nothing.

Now let's get into the today's main part.

I'd like to show you some photos among these recovered files. These were taken on December 13th at the forest road where I usually walk around.

What do you think this is?

Zoomed in a little. The small transparent spheres are water droplets.

It's a true size.

This may be a bird dung felt on a dead tree. The mold on the dung surface is probably the early stage of Pilobolus fungus. This is a type of saprobic fungi that specifically grow on animal or bird dung. I think this fungus has a strange food preference.

According to web information, as the mold grows further, this yellow spherical part becomes black and smaller and changes to a small black bag filled with spores. Contrary to this, the stalk just below it becomes swollen. Finally, this small bag would be repelled and jump out. This is due to the burst of the swollen stalk.

An explanatory illustration is shown below.
