An easy-to-understand introductory book on Slime molds?

Today I went to the second-hand bookstore that one of my high school classmate opened about three years ago. By the way, he has been a Myxomycetes enthusiast for 30 years and has many books on Myxomycetes. (Some of them are shown in the photo below)

The book shown on the left, “Les Myxomycètes,” is described on slime mold namely Myxomycetes written in French, and it used to be a popular book among Myxomycetes enthusiasts in Japan. The photos of the Myxomycetes in the Atlas book are very beautiful, and even if you can't read French, you'll appreciate the beautiful photos referring to the scientific name. An English translation of this book has also been released, but unfortunately both of them had been sold out.

“Die Myxomyceten” is a specialized book on Myxomycetes written in German.

However even if it's written in English, it's difficult to understand for me when it comes to technical terms, even more in French or in German.

Looking for a more easy-to-understand introductory book on slime mold, I found a booklet titled “The Curious Observer's Guide to Slime Mold of UC Santa Cruz and Beyond” and bought it from Amazon.

This book is an 82-page introductory guide book to field observation of slime mold, written by a female college student at the University of California, Santa Cruz, based on photographs of slime mold taken by herself in the university campus.

On the beginning of this book, she uses such phrases as “tapioca pudding dripping down a tree” or “tiny puffs of cotton candy” in order to describe slime mold. That's an interesting expression.

She also describes slime mold as follows: “It is unlike anything else--a brainless lump, but a lump on a mission. Perhaps a rogue slime mold spore plummeted though space from some distant exoplanetary forest, only to land on our absurd planet to begin a long and beautiful life history of slime mold. Until NASA corroborates this alien theory, omitted below

Since it is written in such a casual manner, it makes me want to read again and again.
